First, this I want to be clear that 100% what the author received from the sale of Ask Anna will be donated to Canine Companions for Independence, the nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for people with disabilities.
Anna is a golden retriever. She was part of the author’s Dean Koontz’s family. She turned out to like to write advice for other dogs. The book starts off telling readers her story.
Dear Reader,
My dad, Dean Koontz, is a writer, as you might be aware. For years, his first Golden Retriever Trixie, also wrote books, which sometimes made the best-seller list. I vowed never to be a writer.
I barely had time for all the belly rubs, ball chasing, bird chasing, tug-of-war, and posing that is required of me as a Golden Retriever, not to mention all my non-professional interests, such as the new translation of Proust that I have undertaken, and learning to pilot a hot-air balloon.
Nevertheless, I have written a book of advice for dogs. It’s not a matter of ego, which anyone who owns a Golden Retriever will attest. It’s not about money, because I’m paid in sausages. What it’s about is giving back to my community-which I feel obliged to do especially because of the park grass I’ve ruined with little brown spots. I hope you enjoy the book- and learn something about our fine species.
Woof,
Anna Koontz, Dog
Allen review- This is rather fascinating book full of photos of Anna answering and giving advice to other dogs. The other dog names have been changed to protect identities. Anna has a Dear Abby sort of book. Dean Koontz wrote forward that tells how discovered Anna could write. Dean Koontz helped compile book when found out Anna had her own computer. She did not want to seem bossy. She kept computer concealed in exercise room where Dean never ventured to use equipment. The book is full of advice for other dogs. It was wonderful story of advice bits. The book was 96 pages long. It really felt like Anna worked hard giving advice. Dean must have been very proud of his Golden Retriever! Dean Koontz has been very fortunate to have such intelligent dogs like Trixie and Anna. I really learned lot about thoughts which go through Anna’s mind like sausage. The book deserves a five star rating and feel is all age type of book.
Anna died in 2016. It is hard to know if any other books are going to be published. Thank you Dean Koontz for helping bring Ask Anna to publication. It is very rewarding book to read. God Bless, you Anna Koontz.
