Comments: The Outback of the Maxx is a desolate place it looks weird as does the Maxx.
Sam Kieth's art is beautiful in his style and is easy to recognize. He does have a way of making his drawings stand out. Plus they have a touch of strangeness to them.
Batman and the Maxx find themselves trapped in the Outback. As they chat Batman learns about how strange this Outback is. Is it even a real place or only in the mind?
This story gets you thinking does everyone have their own personal Outback? Does Batman? This adventure these two are on is the strangest thing ever. The Batman seems to be catching the Maxx's personality.
In the Outback fish fly through the air. Which here is normal.
Batman and the Maxx find themselves working together but to achieve what? They have no idea how to return to the normal world.
These two super-heroes are totally different from each other and you would not think they would match up so perfectly but Sam Kieth does just that with them. The art of course is weird and oh so wonderful to behold.

Comments: The art will blow you away. It is weird yes but so eye catching you will not be able to look away. The art shows you Batman and the Maxx along with others in the Outback. The Outback is one crazy place so the Joker fits right in.
What exactly is the Outback? Is it real or imaginary or something else? Batman and the Maxx are in it while also being in the real world. How does one affect the other? What is the Joker up to going after Julie Winters the Jungle Queen.
Maxx meets an old enemy of his and than he finds his Queen. Julie is beautiful. She is confident and calm. You can tell right away these two belong together.
This is one of the weirdest adventures Batman has had. Teaming up with the Maxx who is a super-her/slash ordinary guy. These two are not two you would expect to work well together yet somehow they do.
The art though you have to see Sam's art to believe it. It is weird and strange yet so beautiful.

Comments: We see the Maxx and Julie in the real world yet the Maxx as well is in the Outback. What happens in the Outback is a twisted image of the real one.
The artwork is unbelievable. Sam Kieth has a style that will not let you look away. Batman is drawn in a more stretched out way here. The Maxx is a purple suited awesome guy.
Batman has his own Outback. It has a version of Julie as well. His Outback has several children in it. It is a dark place but Batman is not alone there.
This comic is one of the weirdest strangest things you will pick up. As you shift between realities you begin to wonder where is this Outback is it real or in the mind? Or something else? Things are not as they seem in the Outback.

Comments: The way the story shifts in and out of the Maxx's dream world is weird. In this Outback world the Dreaded Decant awaits the Maxx and Batman. The way the story is told leaves you wondering is the Outback real or not. The Maxx is a good guy just he is confused.
The real world and the Outback connected the Outback appears to be a strange altered version of reality.
Mr. Gone now he is behind this and using others to help him. What is it though that he is up to? A poisoning. Something totally different and unexpected?
The art of Sam Kieth is something else. It is done in a weird style that warps the looks of the characters to fit in with the surreal story line. The story line should be clearer even with the shifts in reality. The art style though does make the comic worth seeing. Batman is done in a strange style that will make you take a second look at him. Julie is drawn to plainly. The Maxx now he is illustrated to perfection. Sam Kieth shines with him.
