Dolly Parton was born into a poverty family in Tennessee. This helped the singer later in life understand the impact of generational poverty. She had a clear view “The worst thing about poverty is not the actual living of it but the shame of it.”

Dolly made deal to personally give them 500 dollars if stay in school and graduate high school. The person would only get 500 dollars if their buddy set at beginning also graduated. This was in Sevierville, Tennessee. Drop out rate went down by 6 percent in Sevierville, TN.
Dolly understood importance of education to break the cycle of poverty. She was quoted as saying” If all adults completed high school or secondary – school equivalent, global poverty would be cut in half.”
Dolly said in interview:” If you don’t like the road your walking, start paving a new one.”
The still living singer Dolly Parton averages about a million dollars each year given back to charities.
This is a very feel-good story.
