Interview with Michele Klecker – Sailor

I have reviewed her books for Jazma
Allen: Are you writing any books at the moment?
Michele: I am not writing anything at the moment. In the future I would like to work on some more books about bullying, and bullying prevention.
Allen: Who is the artist for your children’s type of books?
Michele: Lori DeMatteis is the Illustrator for Max, Max and Junk Yard Dog Meet A Rascal, and Perfectly Plaid. Lori lives in St. Michael, Minnesota. She does a wonderful job, and is very talented. We work very well together.
Allen: Will you be making appearance in local area to promote your books?
Michele: Yes I will be appearing from 2:00-4:00 on September 21st. You will have to check with Dawn at the Cameron Library for specific times.
Allen: How did you meet your husband Pat? I used to at one time work with him at Marketplace Foods at Rice Lake
Michele: Pat and I met in May of 2004, he was living in the same apartment building as I was. We became friends and started dating. I have never lived in Cameron. I have always lived in River Falls, Wisconsin or in Winona, Minnesota. I graduated with a B.A. in Mass Communication in 1994.
Allen: What sort of job do you do at present time?
Michele: I am currently substitute teaching in Western Wisconsin and also working in the Marketing Department for Treasure Island Resort and Casino.
Allen: What are some of your hobbies?
Michele: My hobbies, writing, reading, watching movies, swimming. I try and stay active. Summer is my favorite time of year.
Allen: What are some of the books that you like to read?
Michele: The authors I love, are John Stanford, Stephen Theyer as well. I love reading works from Walter Cronkite,Kurt Vonnegut is really incredible as well. I love Slaughter House Five.
Allen: What are you attempting to teach with your stories?
Michele: I like to try and teach children to love, respect and care about one another. I want children to know that they alone are special but if they work together even greater things can happen.
Allen: Do you have any children? What was the inspiration for dog named Max?
Michele: I do not have any children, Pat and have a dog named Max.
