Comments: The Volume collects issues one through five.
"The Quest: Part One" The five Battlecats are on a quest for a legendary creature. The art is gorgeously done showing these animalistic beings. The eyes and teeth jump out at you. In battle they are a tough group and brave going against any odds. The poses are amazing as the violent action springs to life in this battle between good and evil. The Battlecats exude strength and skill.
"La Marque: Part Two" Inbetween each chapter are beautifully done pin-up pages of the characters that are a must see.
Again the Battlecats find themselves in a hard fought battle. The art gorgeously portrays them as skilled fighters. Their opponents are dispatched with them working as a team.
"The Beast: Part Three" The Battlecats make it to the Dire Beast's lair. As the beast attacks it is unstoppable. It attacks and just keeps attacking. This issue is an all out exciting fight. Blood is spilled and the Battlecats fight on the beast does as well. The art is done a little to dark making the characters hard to fully see.
"Lineage: Part Four" Here we get a brief look at how this planet evolved from the Lion God. Eramad III now rules Valderia. He rules by tradition and honor. This world does have a long and rich history.
"The Truth: Part Five" Eramad's mouth looks terrifying as he is enraged. Kalthan the leader of the Battlecats he does what he thinks is right.
There are more battles brewing. A war is coming. The Darcats are moving against the Valerians. More violence is coming to this planet.
This is a lavish epic story of warriors fighting for what they believe in.

Comments: "Trials: Chapter One" For disobeying their King Eramad III the Battlecats find themselves fighting for their lives in a gladiatorial arena.
Kelthan, Zorien, Mekkar, Kaleera and Vaela make up this battle hard fighting group of Battlecats. Here we see why Kelthan is the Hero of Legend and leader of the Battlecats when he tells them to get up it is not matter of whether they can it is done. This moment is truly inspiring.
Meanwhile Valadar is scheming and moving to attack. He has his plans moving forward and the people are starting to suffer for it.
"Gardens of Solitude: Chapter Two" Here we learn more about the past. Natharien the advisor to the King may be getting older yet he has power. The huge guardians he uses to fight are illustrated as powerful tools.
"The Link: Chapter Three" We see Valdara and his group of four fighters. These beings are killers and do his every bidding.
The Battlecats in the past are shown finding Atrain who can help them get Vaela back whether he wants to or not.
In the present the Battlecats fight in the arena for their lives. The five Battlecats fight hard in the arena and at the end of it four stand tall. The scene will make you stop and have you thinking no it can not be.
"Old Friends: Chapter Four" Will the Battlecats King push them to far? Lady Adastril an advisor to King Eramad acts. The King stands his ground firmly yet he sees all around him.
King Eramad is shown as a proud warrior and King he just wants what of best for his people. He follows the mandates of the Lion God. King Eramad and Lady Adastril do form a trusting relationship as each cares for the people of the land.
Valadar and his forces are approaching King Eramad and his forces hen they meet all hell will break loose.
"The Fall: Chapter Five" Here Eramad and Valadar meet and battle for rulership. The art is so gorgeous throughout this book, the characters are amazingly illustrated showing off their individuality. The warriors in each of them comes to the forefront. Here the characters get a little hard to follow who is who and how they tie into the overall story.

Comments: Valadar now rules Valderia and all over especial in Fanghelm, the capital violence is everywhere as Valadar's minions want everyone to swear allegiance to Valadar and denounce the Lion God.
Kelthan is a shadow of his former self after his defeat at the hands of Valadar. Even his Battlecats teammates can not get him to pick himself up out of his pity party. He is a Hero of Legend only here it does not seem he is any longer.
Valada has his victory yet it does seem hollow. Sometimes the winning is better than the having as reality sets in and you realize that what you fought for means more than what you win.
The art is gorgeously done throughout this book and the battle scenes are exciting action packed fights.
Artain and the Queen believe in the Battlecats and Kelthan realizes he does to and in himself. He just needs some time. He does need to get ready for Valadar and he has a plan. Now though he is a pitiful creature who needs to focus and here we see that beginning. Kelthan is far from out of this story.
