Comments: Cornelius, Zira, Dr. Zaius investigate finding a giant ape hidden behind the Statue of Liberty. The apes decide where there is one there might be more and they set off to find them.
The apes set sail and have a long hard journey. They finally reach Africa. They rest than set sail again. As they sail they are attacked by a monstrous creature from the depths.
The illustrations of apes give them a soft subdued appearance. The colors are soft as well.
When King Kong is shown you can feel his power. He is the King of his jungle. He is drawn as a massive creature of muscles and savagery.
The story does drag on some. on the finding of the giant ape and on the journey to Skull Island.
Seeing King Kong still alive and well in this future does create some interesting and thought-provoking ideas. How is it possible?
King Kong is drawn looking every bit the King he is. He rules Skull Island.

Comments: Our explorers Cornelius, Zira, and Dr. Zaius and some Gorillas are on an Island. As they explore they find it has dangers. Many dangers that just increase the farther into the Island they go.
They find a structure which leads to more danger as they find themselves under attack and the danger is revealed as something they did not think possible.
On this Island, the Apes find a society that not unlike their own in some ways and in others totally different.
The art is well done and the story moves alone just a little too slowly.
Where is the story going next is a question? What happens when Kong meets the Dr. Apes?

Comments: The art is stunning on Kong and all the intelligent apes look great as well. The gorilla solders are so beautifully illustrate you just have to see them, they are a treat for your eyes.
As the Apes visit a strange land where Kong lives the gorillas want more General Ursus wants to put all humans in their place. While the humans in this land want the apes gone.
As apes battle humans Kong joins the battle. He is a giant but faces numbers and weapons. His fight is a short one.
Kong ends up on a voyage to the apes home land. He is not subdued and Kong will raise.
King Kong is still the King. He is drawn so majestically.

Comments: The apes do maintain order. They control King Kong and the humans. The apes bring King Kong to their city. You just know this will not go well. They also brought along a few killer dinosaurs.
Zira and Cornelius for the first time are really at odds with each other completely.
When Kong is shown in the city he is drawn at an angle that makes it look as if half his head is missing. His expressions show a ape that has been defeated.
The killer dinosaurs are illustrated as horrendous beasts. These things are killers and you can feel the terror as they get free in the city. As you see them going for the kill you will be thankful it is not you. The close ups bring across the pure horror that is being unleashed. Wild savage animals run loose in a city of civilized apes.

Comments: The art looks great as the apes army defends the streets of Ape City. Beasts roam the streets and they are drawn as hideous beasts.
Poor Kong when you see the look in his eyes you will feel pity. The little apes thought they could hold Kong. The little apes were so wrong. Once he is free you see why he is the King. Kong is action is a wild raging beast that is a terror to behold. We are treated to a battle of King Kong vs the ape army of gorillas.
It is amazing to see King Kong on the Planet of the Apes.
The story is a bit slow. The characters need to show more excitement. Apes were dying.
Where will this story end, what will happen next issue in the final.

Comments: The gorilla army attacks Kong and he is weary and tired already so he is easy prey. General Ursus is out for blood and he gets it. He is so hell bent on its death. It is sad to see Kong in such a state. He was so proud but here he is brought low.
Other things are occurring in this land of intelligent apes.
The art looks great in the drawings of the apes. Kong though looks so sad and pitiful. It is awful to see him reduced to such a mess. The landscape of the Forbidden Zone is desolate. The people there are a bleak
The ending leaves something to be desired. You are left wondering how did it end?
