Title: Basilisk # 1 Publisher: BOOM! Studios Writer: Cullen Bunn Illustrated by: Jonas Scharf Colored by: Alex Guimaraes Lettered by: Ed Dukeshire Cover by: Jonas Scharf Variant Covers by: Christian Ward, Rafael Albuquerque Price: $ 3.99 US Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Website: www.boom-studios.comComments: Something strange is going on and it proves deadly. Than we see a woman who is on a mission. She acts with focus. A woman wearing a veil enters a restaurant and eats a meal. There is something about her. These two women Hannah and Regan are at odds with each other over something Regan and her friends did to Hannah and her home town. Hannah has a gift or curse of power. Regan is a mystery with her face covering and her power and the why she is as she is. There are four more similar to her. They look like backwoods country folk. Who and what are they? You get a glimpse of what happened and what is to come without to much being revealed. The art has a dark sinister appeal to it. It could use some more detail to it. The close ups do have more detail. This is a good start to this comic. It introduces the characters and draws you in and sets you up for what is to come. Richard Vasseur
