What I really appreciated about “The Lost Carnival a Dick Grayson graphic novel” was this. I appreciated effort done to go into depth telling Dick Grayson story before loss of his parents. “The Lost Carnival a Dick Grayson graphic novel” went into depth and did not once show him as Robin. The story did mention though from psychic that Dick would have a Knight in his future. Dick had no way of knowing would be Batman. Dick thought maybe knight from King Arthur time period. I enjoyed seeing glimpses of Dick’s parents. Dick did not like to live in life of family trapeze person in member as main act of The Flying Grayson’s. It was also interesting to see Dick in relationship with woman from The Last Carnival. There was a lot of magical things in “The Lost Carnival a Dick Grayson graphic novel”. There were also spirits in book. I really appreciated this back history story of Dick Grayson. The illustrations really set the mood for fictional Dick Grayson story.
I got graphic novel from inter library loan. It was well worth picking up to read. I also liked that there was a bonus 5-page teaser graphic novel by Lauren Myracle called Victor and Nora. A young adult Gotham story appearing in stores Fall of 2020. I am also going to see if I can get Victor and Nora through library. The graphic novel is illustrated by Isaac Goodhart.
This is what back cover of The Lost Carnival said about “The Lost Carnival a Dick Grayson graphic novel”:
Before he met Batman, Dick Grayson discovered the power of young love- and its staggering cost- at the magical lost carnival. Haly’s Traveling Circus no longer has the allure of its glamorous past, but it still has one main attraction: the Flying Grayson’s, a family of trapeze artists featuring a teenage Dick Grayson. The only problem is that Dick loathes spending his summers performing tired routines for dwindling crowds.
When the Last Carnival opens nearby and threatens to pull Haly’s remaining customers, Dick is among those drawn to the nighttime glow. But there are ancient forces at work at the Last carnival, and when dick meets the mysterious Luciana and her nomadic family, he may be too mesmerized to recognize the danger ahead.
Beneath the carnival’s dazzling fireworks, Dick must decide between who he is and who he wants to be- choosing either loyalty to his family history or a glittering future with his new friends and romance. Author Michael Moreci and illustrator Sas Milledge will suspend readers from a tightrope in this graphic novel, redefining Dick Greyson for a new generation.
