The book contains 100 doodles of many famous people. A few examples are Jeff Daniels, Vince Vaughn, Michael Phelps, Gary Oldman, Eddie Van Halen, Janis Joplin, Neil Young, Jimmy Fallon, Bill Clinton, Chris Hemsworth and Samuel Jackson. Tom Richmond did not just reserve art for people of living caricatures. He even drew USS Enterprise CVN-65. Some "Firefly" character caricatures. I think my favorites though were his monster sketches of Frankenstein, Ella Lanchester (Lady Frankenstein) and Bela Lugosi as Dracula.
Tom Richmond is best known to me for his art work on Mad magazine. He wrote intro to book one. I also noticed there are three other sketchbooks offered from Tom.Here is intro wrote by Tom Richmond for book one:
Some Blather from the author.
I've always been hesitant to do a printed sketchbook or some other collection of drawings or art that is nothing more than a collection of drawings or art. Those always smacked of vanity and ego to me. Since I started to appear at a lot more comic cons the past few years.. I find that I get asked why I don't have a sketchbook like this available. Considering the fact that attending such cons mainly involves selling my work, which is nothing but ego and vanity. I had no answer from that.
Now I do: You mean this sketchbook?"
This book is mainly a collection of drawings from the "sketch of the week" on my blog. Every Wednesday I draw and post a caricature sketch of some celebrity or otherwise recognizable (I hope) person. Some are quick little studies. Some are mor elaborate drawings. Most are done with a regular Number 2 pencil, but some are in pen. , marker or whatever I happen to grab out of one of many of my jars and mugs full of drawing materials next to my drawing board. Some are even (Gasp!) digital. There are a few other things sprinkled in... drawings done for freelance jobs or for some other reason.
I hope you enjoy the 100 doodles. contain herein as much as I enjoyed digging them out, scanning them, formatting them, doing the....ug.... I hope you enjoy the book.
