Title: Pantha # 1 Publisher: Dynamite Writers: Thomas Sniegoski & Jeannine Acheson Artist: Igor Lima Colorist: Adriano Augusto Letterers: Dezi Sienty, Carlos M. Mangual, Taylor Esposito Cover: Judy Jong Price: $ 3.99 US Rating: 2 out of 5 stars Website: www.dynamite.comComments: We start out with religious terrorists hi-jacking a plane full of people. Maatkar Samira is a beautiful six hundred pound black panther. She is also much more. She once summed the Goddess Sekhmit and she did not show proper respect to her. Now in modern times the Gods of ancient Egypt still exit and Sekhmit wants her wrath back from Maatkar. Why? How will she use it when she gets it back? That wrath was released in the form of a curse. Ta-Nakht is growing being reborn and one look at the swam around him and you know this thing is evil. Pantha has the wrath. Pantha or Maatkar is illustated in her human form and she is gorgeous. The gods want her help against another god. The face of the black panther up close does contain a strong presence. Pantha strikes and strikes hard and ferious. She is a killer. This Pantha is different than the previous versions. Not as tough and savage while still being a lady. Pantha here is lesser version. This issue sets up for a battle to come between Ta-Nakht and Sekhmit and Maatkar. The build up does hint at the entire world being in danger. Richard Vasseur
