Masterworks Spider-Man volume 1: Artist: Steve Ditko Writer: Stan Lee Reprints: Amazing Fantasy # 15 origin of Spider-Man and issues 1-10 of the Amazing Spider-Man Paperback June 21st, 2021 Marvel Comics Reviewed by: Allen Klingelhoets I really got idea to read old Spider-man comics after seeing recent Spider-Man movie at theater. I really appreciated that Masterwork volume was in color. The book also had introduction by co-creator of Spider-man, Stan Lee. It was very interesting to see Spider-Man's origin in Amazing Fantasy # 15 reprint. I wish actually reprinted entire issue of Amazing Fantasy # 15. The foundation was set early in series with "Spider-Man No Way Home". He learned with death of his Uncle Ben "Great power brings great responsibility." I also liked seeing how J. Jonah Jameson started quickly to have hate for Spider-Man. I got to see origin of many key villains like Sandman, Doctor Octopus, The Vulture and many others. The hardcover version of this book came out in 2009. I read soft cover version though through inter-library loan. I also got volumes 2 and three. I liked how there were also several appearances of Fantastic Four in Masterworks: The Amazing Spider-Man volume one. I feel great way to get in on ground floor of comic book character from early origins without having to spend fortune on original issues. There are plenty of other Marvel series reprinted in Masterwork's format. Maybe next time I will try Fantastic Four or Iron Man or The incredible Hulk. Allen Klingelhoets
