This is third novel in series. It is also last completing book. The other two books were Gwendy’s Button Box and Gwendy’s Magic Feather. The main character is Gwendy Peterson who is now 64-year-old woman. I read this book in about day and half. I was taken to Castle Rock and Derry, Maine. I book was really well wrote. I saw what would happen if buttons were pressed on Button Box. Did it cause Jonestown Deaths? Did pressing a certain colored button cause COVID out break? I also got to see how button box was very controlling. It was a form of Pandora’s Box. Once opened could not resist temptation to touch buttons which would cause havoc in world. The only place to get rid of box would be in outer space. I also saw how others wanted to use The Button Box to destroy The Dark Tower. This Tower was written about in epic Stephen King novels about The Dark Tower.
I cried many tears at end of novel.
Here is what the front cover says about Gwendy’s Final Task:
“When Gwendy Peterson was twelve, an enigmatic stranger named Richard Farris gave her a mysterious box for safekeeping. It offered treats and vintage coins, but it was also dangerous. Pushing any of the seven colored buttons promised death and destruction.
Years later, the button box entered Gwendy’s life again. A successful novelist and a rising political star, she was once again forced to deal with the temptation that the box represented.
Now, evil forces seek to possess the button box and it is up to Senator Gwendy Peterson to keep it from them. At all costs. But where can she hide something from such powerful entities?
In Gwendy’s Final Task, “horror giant” (Publishers Weekly) Stephen King and Richard Chizmar take us on a journey from Castle Rock to another famous cursed Maine city to the MF-1 space station, where Gwendy must execute a secret mission to save the world. And, maybe, all worlds.
