Comments: Mara is illustrated as one cute little girl. Mara is living a peaceful life with her family. She is happy. Then her village is attacked.
We see the wolf Gods and like a lot of Gods they do not interfer directly.
The illustrations of the Wolf God are amazing. The use of colors and shading make him stand out as something special. He is shown as a creature of myth and legend. The Wolf God Amaruq knows to save its people he has to act.
Mara is given abilities from Amaruq and she uses them against those who attacked her parents.
Mara has become more than she was and in some ways less. She is now an instrument of revenge.
This issue introduces the main characters and tells us a little about them. It does maintian a little mystery about the bad guys.
Mara though going from sweet innocent girl to revenge seeking woman is thrilling to see. She is now equiped to hurt you.

Comments: The first thing you will notice is how beautifully the Wolf God is illustrated. Next you see Mara's saddness.
Next the comic skips around making it impossible to follow what is going on and who all the people shown are. Than Mara is back with Amaruq the Wolf God. The people she meets are Jun, Phile, Ben Kek-Ki and Kal'Morr they are an interesting group.
Mara looks like just a small child yet she is so much more now. Mara in battle against the zombies is a sight to see. She is strong and fast. The zombies are drawn as rotting sacks of flesh. Mara is a dervish in action as she smashes the undead.
How did this group come together? It is not explained well enough.
The scenery backgrounds are gorgeously illustrated. The dark underground has a dangerous look about it. The colors are so beautifully done.
When Mara picks out a weapon she picks out a weapon. The battle axe is as big as she is. The group wizard Kal'Morr knows Mara is no ordinary girl.
Mara is a quiet girl that you would never want to get on her bad side.
