Title: A Visit to Moscow (GN) Publisher: West Margin Press Adapted by: Anna Olswanger Story by: Rabbi Rafael Grossman Illustrated by: Yevgenia Nayberg Price: $ 19.99 US Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Website: www.westmatginpress.comComments: This book is based on a true story. Here a group of rabbis visit Moscow in 1965. They are there to check on how Jewish people are treated there. The art is subdued. It is like a water color painting. The art does bring out the solemness of the setting. The Rabbi meets with a man and his wife. They have a son. Something is off the boy is Jewish yet the way he has been raised to be Jewish shows how awful Moscow treats Jewish people. The KGB monitored all the Jewish people in the Soviet Union. It is awful and sad to see peoplw treated this way. The children now they are the ones who truely suffer. One page where it is snowing in Moscow is illustrated as a beautiful scene. The last scene a page illustration of Isreal is also done beautifully. This story does have a Rabbi helping out a family and a young boy who grows into a man and one who can be faithful to his religion. The story flows along smoothly and the emotional context comes through. The family we see is suffering yet they still survive and do not let their situation fully control them. Richard Vasseur
