Comments: The mysterious way the story starts out is sure to grab your attention.
The art is done in a simple style that does accentuate the story. The way the art does bring out a growing suspense of horror and has a way of pulling you in works well.
There is one panel with nude T&A so this is a mature title.
The relationship between dog and owner is shown here and it is fun to see. The dog is so cute and so small.
Now out in the woods, something waits. Or does it? There is something going on and Piper is at the center of it.
The overall story and art combine to give you a feeling of rising evil. Something is happening with Piper, what is it? This issue will peak your interest and have you wanting to know more. It will also raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

Comments: A creature from the woods pays Piper a visit. It is like a Japanese ghost creature. It does give one the creeps.
The two sisters Piper and especially Frances are not scared. Piper wants her dog back. This forest creature wants the sisters for some unknown reason.
The two sisters are going to visit their aunt.
The art is simple in black and white. It works well with this story.
The forest creature has followed Piper and her sister. You can feel the suspense slowly building. It is taking its time so the story can focus on the sisters and their strained relationship.
Piper and Frances are stranded beside a forest. This can not be good.

Comments: We see two little girls in the forest. Something in the forest was watching them. The girls are grown up now, Piper and Frances. Now they are stranded on the roadside by the forest. Yes, the same forest.
A mysterious woman comes out of the forest. She is a vision in white. Her followers are odd.
The art is simple and basic. The forest is illustrated as a creepy place. The girls are drawn as ordinary everyday ones.
There is something in the forest.
The girls do get picked up by their aunt. So all is well? The story does build up suspense and these two sisters may have had their problems but they do stand together.

Comments: The two sisters are settling in. The girls take a walk into town. The art is done in a nice simple style. Hazel Patch is a small rural town and it is laid back. Not much ever changes.
The sisters reminisce about their childhood. Their mother had a lot to do with them being messed up and now not being really close.
Than in a restaurant as the sisters are eating something strange happens. Some more weird things happen and the sisters and their aunt meet a pale woman in the forest. There is a mystery here and you will be intrigued by it. Something has been going on here for a long time and it involves the two sisters and their mother. The suspense is built up more this issue. You will want to know what is going on.
Piper and Frances are going in deeper into whatever is going in Hazel Patch.

Comments: Piper and Frances meet their other aunt Joanna. She is a bit strange.
The art style is subdued and the drawings are done in a simple style.
Frances is shown just taking a second to think things through. Sometimes in life things can be overwhelming.
Piper and Frances with the help of their Aunt Joanna go on a little trip to the Nameless Dying River. It is a strange name for a strange place.
Joanna is she good or evil it is hard to tell for sure. Is she some kind of a witch?
In Hazel Patch something weird of definitely going on. The story could be a little more clearer. At times it is hard to figure out the what and why of what is going on.
With all the mysteries here it is hard not to want to find out all the answers. So you will be drawn back.

Comments: We are given a look at Piper and Frances childhood. The family seems normal enough and with your normal type troubles.
Than their mother goes to the well. Things are never the same after that. For two young girls this must have been so frightening. What they lost at so young an age.
The two girls in the present are on a eerie journey. They do encounter a few weird and scary beings along the way to the end of the journey.
In their old house they find the strange and weird. The excitement and thrills and chills get amped up this issue. Plus Piper and Frances we see are still very close.
The art is gorgeously done is a soft style that lets the terror build up slowly so it creeps up on you and into you.
Piper and Frances do continue their journey here but where are they going? That is the question?
