A brief recap from back cover
The Phantom.
The first, original, and best masked hero to ever grace the pages of comic strips and comic books returns with Hermes Press’ new complete reprint of The Phantom. Frequently referred to as the “granddaddy of all costumed superheroes,” The Phantom was created in 1936 by Lee Falk with artwork by Ray Moore. The strip hit the funny pages of newspapers before the dark Knight or Superman made their first appearances and has been acknowledged as an influence on every “masked man of mystery” since. The Phantom set the standard for action, adventure, intrigue, and romance in adventure comic strips and comic books – it has frequently been copied but never equaled. See it from the beginning in Hermes Press’ the complete reprint.

Allen notes.
Volume 10.
The book starts out with introduction by publisher of Hermes Press Daniel Herman. Introduction is titled “The Conclusion of the Daily/Sunday Stories” The first story is only one that includes colored Sunday strips. The Sunday strip coordinated with Monday through Saturday stories. The remaining stories in Volume Ten – return the strip to its normal Monday through Saturday storyline. It was an incredible task. I felt very happy with result of Hermes Press presentation of Phantom classic stories.
I learned that by the early 1950’s the strip’s circulation figures were very robust, not just domestically but all over the world.
Table of contents:
5 Introduction The Conclusion of the Daily/Sunday Stories
9 Chapter 1: The Ape Idol of Durugu
51 Chapter 2: The Movie Stars
106 Chapter 3: The White Monkey
145 Chapter 4: The Gray Gang
195 Chapter 5: Whirlpool Channel

Teen to adult reading level. Fictional action adventure stories. The stories many times relate to aspects told in older Phantom story lines. I got my volume through inter library loan. I also ordered volumes 11-14 through library. The books have come from many place in America like Texas, Maryland, California and Massachusetts. What a true honor it is to have such a wonderful service which has allowed me to read The Phantom newspaper dailies. It has been an incredible reading experience.
