Comments: Veronica is back in her Riverdale and she is being mysterious to Archie and keeping her secrets.
The art here is darker and the backgrounds seem more dreary.
Sir Frances Lodge the first vampire in America is a descendant of Veronica's. Veronica wants to learn all about him and she has others digging into it for her.
Edward "Fangs" Fogarty is back in town. He certainly has changed. He is not the only one who has changed. Other things in Riverdale have changed to and the vampire population has gone way up. Riverdale is fast becoming not your friendly little town.
The vampires we see are nicely illustrated and they do not go overboard. They are what you would expect to see here.
Veronica as a vampire is a refreshingly different take on her character. It will be interesting to see the direction this story heads in.

Comments: Veronica is not the only vampire in town. Her and Dilton are on a search to find out about her roots.
Fangs is back in town and he is hanging around Ronnie. What does he want?
Mr. Lodge is one ruthless and scary vampire. He scares the other vampires and he leaves no doubt he is in charge.
The art is subtle yet for the vampires it does deliver a sense of evil.
Throughout the story here not a lot happens. We see a few vampires and they do stand around a lot.
Veronica searching for her roots leads to some wonderful musty and dusty art in the basement of a secret room. She is trying to find out about her ancestor Sir Francis Lodge. The story does start to peak your interest in learning more about him.
It is funny that no one seems to mind Veronica running around town carrying a sword on her back. She is tough yet she could push more and maybe should. Veronica is becoming more Vampironica.

Comments: Captain Sir Frances Lodge finds himself in deep trouble. This vampire is not so easy to kill. He is a killer though and will not give up without a fight. The blood lust of Frances does show that he is evil. The vampire is a creature of ruthlessness.
We get to see how Riverdale was formed. Here there are vampires and werewolves. These creatures do battle it out with only one emerging victorious. On other worlds the out come may have been different but not here.
The story moves along slowly even though it is short. A lot of time is spent just standing around. The little surprise is not much of one as you are told it.
More characterization was needed. The story needed to tell us more about what happened and why. Also why does Veronica want to know about how all this vampirism started? What does she plan to do wit the knowledge?
Veronica or Vamperonica is used hardly at all in this issue. We needed to see her and her attitude to have helped make this a better issue.

Comments: Things are so dark in this story. Vampires are real and so are werewolves.
Veronica is a vampire and Francis Lodge an Apex Vampire who feeds on other vampires is after Veronica. Francis will not stop coming and Veronica is not going to just lay down for him. The build up to these two meeting is intense. When these two do finally clash it is a violent battle.
Veronica does suffer a lose during her battle and Francis and her have unfinished business. It is made clear Francis is an Apex vampire but here he also faces another one.
The art is done in a dark gothic style. The characters are all looking darker and have darker personalities. Fang is a particularly well done character here, he has depth to his character.
Francis Lodge is the evil force here and he is evil he is just not terrifying evil.
Here Veronica does start on a new adventure a terrifying one that could lead to her demise.
