I was afraid would ruin 1992 version by making live version. I fondly recall Robin Williams playing role of Genie in 1992 movie. His energy in movie was almost impossible to fathom doing better in new movie. I was very impressed by new movie. Aladdin (2019) made a little more than a billion dollars at box office. I never had chance to see in theater. I did watch though on blue ray format. Will Smith did great job as genie. I was also impressed with Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Jasmine. I really liked Will Smith as the Genie. Jafar was played by Marwan Kenzari.
The movie did not move very far from 1992 source cartoon. The new movie was very entertaining for young and old. The writing moved story along very quickly. It was entertaining fiction with lots of adventure. I think hard to tell at times what real real and what was computer generated. I still am not sure if parrot Iago was real. It makes me wonder how new live movie of The Lion King or Mulan will look look on theater screen? Story is key component. I think Aladdin would make great gift at Christmas or birthday time.
The movie is rated PG.
I also loved the wonderful music that played in various scenes through out new Aladdin movie. They are same as from older 1992 movie.
They are a few twists in story. Most things though are very similar to 1992 cartoon. I even liked seeing magic carpet.
Aladdin is a very good family type of movie. I also watched 1992 cartoon to compare and contrast for this review. Aladdin (2019) also can be rented, bought or just like I did got from library.
Aladdin (2019) is a very magical story for a new generation.
