I usually don't watch too many TV shows, but now that we are facing the Pandemic Crisis, I have more time to watch various shows that I never had time to watch before. I usually watch many of the true crime shows on ID Discovery and some of the paranormal shows on the Travel Channel. A must watch for me, is the History Channel's Ancient Aliens, The Unexplained and Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch. During the Pandemic Crisis, I had the leisure pleasure of watching the following shows and here is my take on them.
EPIX:
Godfather of Harlem. I binged watched Season 1 of this epic series. I was totally glued on the exploits of legendary figure Bumpy Johnson. It was interesting to see how he was connected to Malcolm X; Dutch Schultz; Lucky Luciano; Genovese Family; Joseph "Bananas" Bonano and Adam Clayton Powell Jr.
Pennyworth. This show is kind of interesting to learn about the exploits of Batman's butler Alfred Pennyworth. Watched a few episodes, but it didn't keep my attention.
War of the Worlds. Hmm...new take on HG Well's story. The first 3 episodes were exciting, but things started to slow down and my interest in the show was vanquished.
HBO:
Westworld. I have been watching this show off and on. This show is very well made and I wish I had more time to really consume this series.
Watchmen. Excellent series and this is another one that I binged watched.
SHOWTIME:
Penny Dreadful - City of Angels. The first series of Penny Dreadful was EXCELLENT, with connections to Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray, Mina Harker, Abraham Van Helsing, Henry Jekyll and Dracula. Then even throw in Scotland Yard and a Pinkerton Detective. Now this new series has no connection to the first one, which is very disappointing, so both universes are separate. Watched about 3 episodes and then lost interest.
Dexter. Always captivating. A good guy serial killer who goes after bad guy serial killers, how can you go wrong? I am disappointed Dexter's sister was killed and the way Dexter disposed of his sister's body in the ocean. I just didn't get that.
HULU:
Killing Eve. My wife loves this show and the killings are usually very unique. Great acting and a great cast. Jazma Man makes a comment: "This is a show that keeps you focused, I give it two thumbs up!"
What We Do in the Shadows. I love this show, it's hilarious. Not only do we have blood vampires with Romanian accents, but they also have a roommate who is an energy vampire. The energy vampire sort of reminds me of a "sympathy vampire". I remember a class mate in high school who was a sympathy vampire. They always had some kind of ailment, or someone in their family died and they were always looking for a sympathetic ear to tell their story. They seem to feed off the person they targeted and get renewed strength.
Jazma Man Gives Killing Eve Two Thumbs Up!
STARZ:
American Gods. Some of the episodes grab my attention and other episodes have me dozing off. Not sure about this one.
