Inside cover says: Sunday is feeling more like done day. Tired of being taken for granted, she quits!
Can the other days of the week find a fabulous and fun, relaxing and replenishing replacement?
Or is something like Runday, Funday, or DogsWhoLoveFrogsDay what's actually needed?
This laugh-filled story about kindness and appreciation will make every day feel better!
Allen notes:
Charming book. Sunday just got exhausted thinking neglected day. The other days of the week were aghast. No day had quit - not since Marsday, but that was so, so long ago. Monday took charge and decided that they needed to put up Wanted requests for A New Day. Wanted A New Day must be relaxing, tranquil, chill (though not as chill as Saturday), Healing, Blessed Replenishing, Quiet, Committed, and most important: Must be able to give people good dreams and get along with others! Serious inquiries only. There were little tabs on bottom of posters that could be used to respond to job offer to take Sunday's place.
It was amazing the responses to A New Day request.
The other days of the week held auditions. The first prospects were interesting. The candidates stated name and anything else they wanted to talk about themselves. I liked Fun Day. I also liked Dog Day and Caturday. Some ideas did not work like Worst Vice President Day or Shark Day. Burpday was also voted down by other days of week. I loved idea of Superhero Day where everyone gets super powers. The idea for A New Day was posted online by judges. The reception to idea brought in new ideas like Pie Day. Llama Day. Band Aid Day or Acrobaturday. The day would give people power. The day that got best response was Candy Day. The day was to be called Can-day. The competition became very intense to take Sunday's spot as A New Day. There was craziness, like when ideas came up for Unicorns with Flashlights for horns day met up with Unicorns with horns for horns day. Other days seemed impractical like Snowmen in a blizzard eating marshmallows day. Some of the ideas just did not work. The idea to get back Sunday was helped by a little child that grew a plant. Sunday was refreshed by love child showed to Sunday with appreciation of her being day of the week. Sunday was a day when people can show more kindness to each other. Sunday never forgot the moment. She never forgot how the little girl made her feel. And Sunday never forgot the most important lesson of all.....
that with a little more kindness in it, every day can be a New Day.
Sunday did not feel tired anymore and resumed her task as being day of the week.
There would not be a Caterday or Dog Day or any other of those ideas. I was sorry to hear not going to be Superhero Day. It would have been interesting to have superpowers.
I give story A for creativity and original thoughts.
