I thought “Follow that Monster!” story in Scooby – Doo # 96 might have occurred in Bemidji, Minnesota. I thought about Bemidji when I saw Paul Bunyan motel. I than noticed sheriff make reference that monster tracks started three miles away at ocean. Paul Bunyan is part of many areas' folk lore. I once even went to Paul Bunyan lumber jack camp at Hayward, Wisconsin. I once even saw a picture of a huge pair of pants that were supposed to be Paul Bunyan’s. I recalled many folk tales that I had read at library. I have heard about legend in Bangor, Maine.
I also heard references and even saw mascot of Paul in St. Maries, Idaho.
I really do not know exact location initial story occurred in “Follow that Monster!”
I found mystery of monster that left huge foot prints a little too easy to solve.
People quickly abandoned town when they saw monster. No one called state police moment monster was seen outside of town. I found it strange that no one even took time to take pictures for local newspaper. Helicopters would have to be logged into some local airport. Flight plans would have to be given for going into town. Town looting seemed impossible. I was proud of Mystery Inc. for being brave enough to venture into woods. They quickly solved trick of monster contraption. Perhaps, odd way of looting town was actually genius. Panic happened when monster was seen. It was better to be safe than wait and see if real.
No live Big Foot is in museum or zoo. This does not mean creature does not exist.
How could citizens of town know creature was not real? I was glad to see Mystery Inc. use thieves own creation to help capture looters.
Did anyone get seriously hurt in helicopter crash? I am concerned that monster caused helicopters to explode. That would be rather un-Scooby- Doo like.
Over all, very entertaining all age story!
I traced bandages to help get Shaggy and person dressed up as Mummy back in window.
Thanks to John Rozum and John Pope for fun two page mini –story!
I noticed many clues in concluding “Big Game Hunter.” Story. Clues were plenty although I have to admit some did not become apparent until I finished story. I expected Aunt Helen was really mystery person.
I do not know how see so quickly changed into costume. Garb looked very bulky and clumsy. There really were no other “red herring” suspects. I liked solution to mystery.
I was glad to find out Uncle Randolph would be donating some of his big game trophies to Museum of Natural History at collage. Aunt Helen was just attempting to get her husband to brighten up room.
I only noticed dust on trophies after second time reading story.
This is a fun comic that I read from comic book bargain bin. I suppose can be found through some online comic book store. The comic book might even be able to be read for free if look hard enough online or collected into graphic novel format from DC Comics.
Here is what I found at DC Comics about Scooby- Doo! # 96
Animal antics haunt Daphne's aunt, while an entire town fears a mysterious monster heading right for their homes!
