I find it fun to go back and watch some of the old Sub Mariner cartoons on U Tube.
Episode one gives story told from view point of Sub Mariner having amnesia. He is being cared for by his beloved Lady Dorma in Atlantis. He is bed ridden with fever. He gets away from Dorma and escapes to the surface world. He gets in fights with others from air breathing surface world. The cartoon strays some from his true origin in comic book. He does not meet Fantastic Four as did in Fantastic Four issue # 4. It is clear though Sub-Mariner is recognized from many years in past by other people. I also found this online about episode.
In this 1st episode we find out the origin of Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Having incurred amnesia because of an illness, Namor looks for his identity on land and finds the mysterious Mrs."B", who knows & holds the real truth of his past.
I also found out that there were only 13 episodes.
I than found out during same time period other Marvel Comics characters were made into cartoons. A few examples were Thor, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and Iron Man.
Marvel was still very young company. They had started to make series like The Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk. They had ventured back into super hero stories after long hiatus. The company had at one time been called Timely Comics.
The Sub-Mariner cartoons can be found for free to watch online or sold through Amazon.
