There are four volumes so far in series of collected I Hate Fairyland comic books by Scottie Young.
Here is some information about comic book graphic novel from Amazon website.
From SKOTTIE YOUNG, New York Times Best Selling, Eisner Award winning cartoonist of the Wizard of OZ graphic Novels, Rocket Raccoon, and Fortunately, The Milk comes a satirical fairytale adventure that smashes its cute little face against hilariously violent comedy that’s definitely NOT bedtime story material for the kiddies. (unless your parents are super cool and don’t screen your entertainment, then... whatever.)
In this oversized DELUXE HARDCOVER, join Gert (a grown woman in a six-year-old girl’s body, who has been stuck in the magical world of Fairyland for over thirty years) on a maddening quest to return home. It’s just her, a fly named Larry, a giant blood-soaked battle-axe and endless amount of cute and cuddly Fairy landers standing in her way.

I read volume one within couple of hours. I instantly went back to library to get volumes 2 through 4. The stories do have lots of gore and bloody scenes. This is not kind of series for children. Image Comics put Mature Audience on back cover to rate book for readers. This is what Image Comics website said about "I Hate Fairyland" comic book.
The Adventure Time/Alice in Wonderland-style epic that smashes its cute little face against Tank Girl/Deadpool-Esque violent madness has arrived. In an adventure that isn't for the little kiddies, (unless you have super cool parents, then whatever), you'll meet Gert—a six-year-old girl who has been stuck in the magical world of Fairyland for thirty years and will hack and slash her way through anything to find her way back home. Join Gert and her giant battle-axe on a delightfully blood-soaked journey to see who will survive the girl who HATES FAIRYLAND.
Allen final note: I am not sure if this series will be made into cartoon or movie. I am enjoying series even though lots of gore. It is different than they lived happily ever after format. I just got volumes one through four from library.
