Comments: Aaron Shows he does have some smarts while training yet will they be enough to prevent him from dying during a real hunt.
We see Aaron in the future still alive and yes much more confident.
Aaron in the past does get a roommate Jace. Jace is tough and he knows he is. Both are different color masks though.
This school House of Slaughter is about learning to face monsters who can and will slaughter you. Aaron is the focus here as he starts out he lacks confidence. The more he matures the greater that gets. He does have the ability to become more.
The three girls in white masks are taunting with the intent to hurt Aaron. He does stand up to them showing he does have a toughness inside him.
Anyone at the House of Slaughter has to be tough for what they are expected to deal with. They deal with the things in the dark that will kill you.

Comments: Aaron and Jace are sort of friends. Here we see Jace go through a ceremony to join House Slaughter. It is a dangerous one. His life is on the line. He faces a frightening monster in a life and death battle. This creature is nightmarish. Aaron and Jace both cared about each other.
Now fifteen years later. One is sent to kill the other and of course things never go as expected.
The art has a dark side to it. The backgrounds are pastel looking colors. The people are wearing masks so the eyes are used to show expressions.
This is a story about a group of people dedicated to killing monsters. The House of Slaughter is all about slaughting these huge black scary creatures.
The story focuses on Aaron and Jace these two maybe friends are different. Yet differences can make friends stronger. So how will this meeting end? No matter how it does some slaughtering is sure to occur.

Comments: Jace and Aaron are shown when they were still training and they do go well together as friends. Maybe more than just friends. These two are forging a bond.
We see two hunters taking acre of one monster. The fall out though is shown and the collateral damage this creature causes is clearly shown and the devastation it causes to innocent lives is severe. The hunters though are just there to do their jobs and that is to kill a monster. Here it is made clear how tramatizing these events can be to an innocent. That bond they forged while training is still strong.
The creature is nightmarish yet in this issue it is in the background as the relationship between these two hunters comes to the forefront. The love they share is pure and it trumps their training and loyalty to House Slaughter.
House Slaughter is not a nice place to grow up in. It does teach one how to survivor and how to kill. But it is hard on the ones training there. It pushes the people and then pushes them even more. House Slaughter will teach you how to slaughter monsters.

Comments: Aaron and Jace may be in love but at House Slaughter that is a huge no. Here the story flips back anf forth fifteen years. we see these two in both times and their love for each other is strong but is House Slaughter stronger?
This is a love story about monster killers. It is also about revenge. These two teen boys , now men are on opposite sides. Now where will their relationship go? It is do or die time.
The monster killing by the Butcher is not shown well enough. He is shown standing there with a dead monster. Yet what of the actually killing of it which is not shown.
This story basically is about the relationship between these two men. it started when they were teens and is still there these men are so in love. One though has been given the job of killing the other one. Will he do it, can he do it? Just how strong is his training and how strong is his love? It will be interesting to see the outcome of this.

Comments: Jace is about to fullfil his plan of revenge in the past while in the present he plans for his future. In the past Jace plans to take down the Dragon and the House of Slaughter.
Now in the present Jace shows Aaron what he has being doing.
In the past Jace the monster hunter unleashes monsters in his quest for revenge. House Slaughter and its members fight back. We see two people in love face each other both loyal to conflicting ways.
Aaron does step up and shows where his loyalties lay. He is House Slaughter yet love is stronger than any monster.
More actual fighting with the monsters was needed. This story is all about these two men being in love with each other and what they had to go through to finally be together.
The art is well enough done it has the settings looking dark and shadowy like something out of a horror movie. The characters are always drawn so serious.

Comments: This issue starts out with some people playing chess. One who fancies himself a good player against a young boy. Than we get an explanation about the red masks and what they are for. Edward wears a red mask and does not understand what it means. Then Edward gets sent out on a mission, not a hunter a white mask thought is sent.
This issue nowit does jump around to much. There is a part about bears that really makes no sense. Then it jumps to a painted from House Slaughter and a young boy. This part as well makes little sense. The what and why need to be explained better.
The art looks good and the red masks definitely have a scary feeling to them. The bears are illustrated as frightning creatures.
The whole issue needed a focus to it. What was the purpose here?

Comments: Edwin is talking and talking why though what is its purpose? He has a paint brush with a monster trapped in it as his familiar. Now the two of them are out hunting a giant monster. What kind exactly they are unsure of. How did Edwin get into this situation? Nothing is said about that.
Edwin is one weird hunter. He thinks about others cases that may be similiar to this one.
The art is not effective in binging across the situation of monter being hunted by a hunter. There is no suspense, no build up. Most of the art is hard to make out it is so indistinct.
Edwin has big eyes yet that does not make him scary.
The story needed action, it needed explanations, it needed a monster.
Edwin is a strange man and his crazy attitude is the only redeeming part of this issue.

Comments: Edwin and a flying insect are having a conversation about a story. What exactly is happening and why are things that it is hard to figure out. It looks like there is a monster involved but its so hard to tell and the art is the only way you will even have a clue. It has something to do with Edwin's memories.
Now when Edwin was a young boy just joining House Slaughter his monster met an unexpected end. Yet he still got a monster. What does this mean? What is the monster he got and what is its purpose? Is it just a memory vampire? Or something more?
The art on the monsters and Edward do give this comic a scary feel. His monster now with it being a different kind of monster makes it even scarier as you have no idea what to expect from it.
The overall comic is hard to follow and not a lot happens or if it does you can not tell it is.

Comments: A couple boys sit around telling scary stories and one is about a weird looking man. This man is a hunter and out on a lake. The setting does set up for an atmospheric story with a building horror.
When the creature is shown it is a huge scary monster that would frighten any sane person. So it is one man vs a dragon in a firece battle to survive. This fight goes on longer then you might expect and it is two creatures fighting their hardest to survive. Than it happens and you will never see this coming. It hits you out of the blue and will leave you stunned.
The art does paint a frighteningpicture that would scary your worst nightmare. Horror comes in both big and small packages and then there is this.
We get drama and intrugue in the House of Slaughter as well.
The campfire stories well they are so much more then just stories. The most frightening part is that they are real. The monsters exist and are way more deadly then you could have ever thought.

Comments: The carnage thats greets you here is a gore fest as a monster is on a murder spree inside a school bus full of children. Some scary stories are scary and not just entertaining.
Jace Boucher is a nice man looking after children who were affected by a monster's attack. He has an owl and a fox to advide him only they are not really an owl and a fox.
We get to see a hunting party from House Slaughter. The leader of the group has strange eyes. They will definitely get you looking at them.
The monster shown here is not drawn all the fearsome and it does attack yet the attack is not overly aggressive.
Sunny does want to be a fierce monster hunter like Jace. He is willing to take risk. When a monster attacks he attacks back. It is good to see him being so brave. Even the bravest of warriors can use some help and Sunny does get a little during his battle. The battle is quick as are most. It will be interesting to see where Sunny goes from here.

Comments: Jolie Bouchard is a monster hunter. For some reason she is bringing a young boy along with her on her hunt. We get to follow along as Jolie and Sunny the young boy track down the monster's babies. Yes Jolie had a definite purpose in bringing Sunny along. Baby monsters are hungry. Well Jolie also sees something more in him and invites him to check out her place of work. A future monster hunter maybe? The way Jolie takes to this boy does show she still has some feelings and still cares. et she is looking out for innocents to protect them from the monsters in the world.
The art even when it shows the monster babies is plain and boring. The only frightening part was their glowing red eyes in the dark.
Jace is shown a few times yet contributes nothing to the story.
Jolie is a hunter and killer and a action scene showing that would have been great to see. Jolie is shown talking a lot yet she is not shown in action.
Sunny may or may not be a future hunter.

Comments: A woman with different colored eyes is luring a young boy into a big fancy house. It is the Butcher's Shop. Sunny the boy is enjoying his visit to this house. Jolie-Jolie does have Sunny meet the other people there. Sunny is there to join them or die.
The story does switch back and forth between the House and Jace Boucher.
Jace is after Jolie he is hunting her.
Maven is used a lot of and she is one interesting character and her ravens to. Hopefully she will show up more. She has a atmosphere about her that is creepy yet good hearted.
This issue does keep moving and you get the impression that a lot is happening yet not much does. Sunny at House Butcher does come close to some action yet that might happen next issue not in this one. So there was no action at all here which would be ok if something replaced it such as character development. Only Maven shone through here.
The art for Maven and the ravens looks fantastic. The ravens are dark birds and she is Maven dark.
Both Jolie and Jace needed to be used more here. They are both good characters but only if they are used.

Comments: At the Messiah Bar Jolie and Jace meet up there. Jolie's eyes stand out. Now Jolie does have a grude against Jace. Is she right in having it, she thinks so but Jace thinks she is wrong. Who knows.
Things do not go as Jace thought they would. Jolie has changed as has he. Now Jace finds himself in a fight for his life.
Sunny now his life is just starting. He is briefly shown, can he still be saved? Will he become a cold blooded killer?
The House of Slaughter is a wonderful institute for learning how to be aloft and a killer. Jolie is one of its best well next to Jace who since he left has grown a little soft. Or so it would seem. With Jace it is hard to tell.
This issue is about getty Sunny back for Jace from Jolie and things do go very wrong or right depending on whos side your on.

Comments: Jace finds himself in trouble. Meanwhile Sunny is getting initiated into being a killer. Jace though is coming after he had a visit or vision of his old boyfriend Aaron. Jace looks bad ass as he goes into action inspired by Aaron. The odds though are against him yet he has come to fight to get the boy Sunny back.
This issue does not have a lot happening for action or character building. The torture, captive scenes are drawn indistinct. The scenes of fighting do not show the actual attacks only the aftermath.
Sunny this poor little boy has been drawn into this group for fights monsters. He is innocent and Jace was protecting him. Now Sunny does choose sides.
The possessed dolls are cute.
Seeing Jace's conviction as he does not give up. He will face any odds to do the right thing.
More of an explanation as to what is going on was needed.
The monter crocodile is illustrated nicely with a good menacing atmosphere around it. It looks like a deadly creature and Sunny is set up to battle it. Only probably is it does not happen. Why not?
House of Slaughter needs more slaughting to shown.

Comments: A team of hunters are battling a monster. The monster is all in black but still very well istrated so you can see it and know it is an evil creature.
One of the White Masks is called Bait. There is interaction between Scarlet, Blue, and White Masks as they plan to kill a monster. Bait is the bait to lure it in.
There are other Masks to Azure, Black, Silver and even one Gold. There is Alabaster as well. They draw from all the other Houses to fill their ranks. An explanation of the Alabaster Masks is given yet it is hard to follow.
We see Bait has a totem which is weird looking. Bait when he first came to the order was alrady one strange boy. With his handicap you would think being bait for monsters would be something he could not do. Bait does not say a word this whole issue and he does not have to. He knows what his job is and he is ready for it.
The comic did not have a character who was the focus of it.
The monster fighting at the start of the issue is the hi-lite of the issue. The monster is illustrated as a nightmare come to life.

Comments: The young boy is called B and as he meets Nan it is love at first site. B though or Bait as is his name is there for one reason.
B does find something or things that are scary in the woods. He may not have any arms or hands but he sure can use his legs and feet in a fight and here we see him doing just that. This armless boy can kick butt.
B has such big beautiful blue eyes.
Bait's presence is amazing as he really steals this issue. He may not talk yet just the way he is draw and how he acts plus how others react to him is mind blowing. This little boy once you see him you will fear him.
Bait is sent out on a mission and and he excels at it first finding the monsters but not the monster. He is hot on its trail though.
Bait is a boy you may like but you really should not.

Comments: One researcher gets help researching and with help he finds much more. His help is from a woman and both of these characters are mysterious in how they are handled. Not much is said about either one yet they both are interested in Bait the armless boy who can defeat monsters without having any arms or hands.
The monsters pictured here are dark scary things. They could be from your darkest nightmares.
Bait has been through hell. He owes it all to a monster. We learn a lot about Bait here and his early life.
Who the characters are here besides Bait the rest needed to be expained better who they are and there purpose to this story. Who is Bait's friend and who are the two characters at the start. What exactly do they have to do with anything?
When you see the art depicting Bait fighting the monsters it looks wondering as he has no arns yet he does fight so well and destroys the monsters.
The art here for the most part shows a few people standing around. The fights with the monsters should have been a little longer.
Bait now he is something special. Special in that he is someone to watch out for.

Comments: Bait and some kids are preparing to fight monsters. First up they arm themselves. They are not fighting just to kill monsters but to protect themselves from something just as bad.
Watching the paper mache familair creature is something else as it does make you believe it is actually alive.
The story starts out without a focus and you are left guessing at what is going on and why. Then the fighting starts as the monsters arrive. Everything here is focused on battling these creatures. They are abominations. The kids do well and Bait does the best he can. Nan though the one Bait most wants to protect is not a fighter. This section of the comic will have you following everything that is shown not wanting to miss one beat or kill.
The monsters are all black with glowing red eyes and all are hungry with a strong instinct to slaughter and kill. They are beasts that if you saw them you would run and if they saw you you would run even faster screaming in terror.
This comic is rightly named with slaughter in its title.

Comments: This issue starts off with the monster killers and monsters going hard at each other. The monster killers are it seems at times as bad as the monsters. They kill monsters yes and also innocents.
Both monsters and slayers are dark killers in the night. You would not want any of these nightmarish creatures or people in your life.
There is drama in this issue as the slayers discuss who deserved to be slayed. To protect a secret to many are killed.
There are a few surprises in this story. One Scarlet Mask does have ambition and she is willing to do wantever it takes to achieve her goals. Plus we get a mystery as a person shows up that is not identified.
Bait is a great character although he is taken advantage of. He could fight back but decides not to. He has mysteries about him and his attitude at times is weird. He is a strange boy yet he is likable.
The White Masks of which Bait is a part of are shown here as uncaring about others. They care only about doing their jobs and that is slaying monsters.
It was nice to see several monsters fighting more than one White Mask. Bait though was the best of them all.

Comments: Two Houses are meeting. The Houses have an uneasy truce. They work together yet each one wants to be in charge. House Slaighter wants to kill Jace Boucher Slaughter.
Not a lot of what is going on is explained.
Jace is shown fighting a huge dragon like monster. Things did get bloody. The way it is presented you would think it was a battle from his past. After the battle Jace stands tall yet he is just protecting the innocent.
With Houses Slaughter and Bouchard gathered together Jace now has all his enemies in one place. The Butcher is ready to hunt.
This issue does not have enough happening in it. It sets things up for other future issues but here not enough is actually happening. The children we do not see much of. Some guy talkes to Jace but in this issues nothing is said about who he is.
Jace does come across to the readers as a tough guy and with the muscle and skills to back it up.

Comments: Sunny Boucher is being trained and conditioned to hate Jace Boucher, the Butcher. Now a trap is set and Jolie is ready to spring it and she is making sure to cover everything. Two Houses working together and all these hunters all for one man.
The art for the most part is boring. The only exciting scene is as two hunters jump into action. The gold masks do look nice but are rarely shown.
The trap is ready and it is sprung. It is full of surprises. Some of which are not clear.
The way this book ends leaves you wondering what happened afterwards.
There was a lot of killing only except for one person none of it wa shown. The one person that was shown was poorly shown.
The kid Sunny is a good character he is playing all sides here both the House and Butcher's while staying true to his friend.
Butcher needed to be in this issue more. He is a key character that is the main focus of the story.
