I decided to read this book after seeing new Harry Potter universe movie.
The Christmas Pig though had nothing to do with Harry Potter.
I read book in matter of days.
The book was told in 9 parts.
Part One: Dur Pig
Part Two: Mislaid
Part Three: Disposable
Part Four: Brother- It’s Gone
Part Five: The Wastes of the Unlaminated
Part Six: The City of the Missed
Part Seven: The Island of the Beloved
Part Eight: The Loser’s Lair
Part Nine: Home
The story quickly in part one took me into world of child Jack and his love for toy been bag stuffed toy. It showed how Jack took DP or Dur Pig on many adventures. He took DP to beach and many fun places.
DP was lost on Christmas Eve.
Jack went on adventure on Christmas Night. This was night of magic. He was human and went to land of lost items. It was done by magic. He went on huge dangerous adventure to find DB with replacement Christmas pig which was given to him to replace DB. They looked same except the new Christmas Pig was brand new compared to very dirty DB. Jack did not like the new Christmas Pig. He wanted DP.
Key point Jack had to find DP in Christmas night or else could not return to his home in land of his family or other living things. He would have to stay in Land of Lost items. Jack had help from Hope and optimism that would find DP with The Christmas Pig’s help. He had to be careful not to be caught by The Loser who controlled most of the Magical Land of the Lost.
I felt very amazing story. I fell in love with characters. I feared for Jack. Would he find DP? What other objects would he find in Land of the Lost?
I wondered if Jack would be trapped in magical world. No human had ever been to magical world. He pretended to be toy with his own cartoon.
I was amazed by Jack’s decision when found DP.
Santa was even in novel.
I highly suggest reading The Christmas Pig.
Here is what front cover says about The Christmas Pig.
Jack loves his childhood toy, Dur Pig. DP has always been there for him, through good and bad. Until one Christmas Eve, something terrible happens – DP is lost.
But Christmas Eve is a night for miracles and lost causes, a night where all things can come to life… even toys.
So Jack and the Christmas Pig (DP’s irritating replacement) embark on a breath-taking journey through the magical Land of the Lost. With the help of a talking lunch box, a brave compass, and a winged thing called Hope, they set out to rescue the best friend that Jack has ever known from the terrifying toy-crunching Loser….
From one of the world’s greatest storytellers comes the heart warming. Page-turning adventure about how one child’s love for his most treasured thing, and how far he will go to find it. With dazzling illustrations from renowned artist Jim Field, The Christmas Pig is destined to become a beloved classic for the whole family.
