(pearls of wisdom)
The number of days in a year (solar cycle) on Mars is 687.
Ares is heavily associated with Mars, the planet & was worshiped & during rituals there were blood sacrifices in early mythology to him, such as oxen.
Mars is the name of his Roman counterpart, who was known as a God of strategy & war.
The pentagram as we know it today, which is highly attributed to the devil, actually has several connotations to the planet mars in its early symbology.
Drawing a planetary circular shape, around a star would give it elementary powers of protection & life force.
Because he was also an agricultural god, the seasons and celestial patterns were highly emphasized, in order to protect food sources, as well as multiply them for his people. (This is both in a spiritual & physical sensibility).
He was very important & considered one of the main gods in Earth religions & in the Spanish language, Tuesday (Martes) is named after this spiritual conception.
Of course, much of this is inspired by the red appearance of the planet itself.
Pagan philosophers believe the universal pentagram symbol depicts the five planets seen most often in the night sky, (including Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, and Venus.)(celestial bodies).
Babylonian goddesses of Love & war, such as Ishtar, Freya & even Venus have been tied to the battlefield with just as much importance as the bloodshed of these gods. (multiculturally).
& The pentagram is also thought to symbolize the feminine aspects of these theories of alchemic proportions, reversely.

Mars Folklore
Mars- Mars is the father of Romulus and Remus (the mythological wolf god founders of Rome.)
Mars is heavily represented by wolves, & dogs-
especially devil like ones with glowing red eyes.
This is because Mars is also about expanding your spiritual strength & destroying fear, while conquering your mortality and it can be seen as evil.
These are mostly primal instincts and urges, which society nowadays has most likely turned away from the thoughts of war, due to the past and demise of important elements of our planet, itself.
The planet Mars and the month March are named after him, as well of course.
