The holidays are celebrated differently by each family & person in the world.
We consider this to mean any special occasion, especially a spiritual one.
This could be a remembrance, a rest from work or any sacred part of time itself.
The holidays are a form of honor & worship.
They usually last just one day, however many exceptions can be made.
Mostly we revolve them around great big get togethers & large banquets, oversized buffets & meals for our family & friends (or church groups).
A full course food menu will be served out, most likely revolving around snacks, appetizers, drinks & desserts or more.

sugar cookie shapes
Well on Christmas and in the winter people like to bake a lot of sweets because an oven and stove warms up your home very quickly. It's very comforting in the cold to have hot beverages, such as cocoa, milks & coffee's (especially sweet ones.) It's thought to warm up your bones and body!
That's why theres a lot of stories told on these days as well, because the tales of gods and angels is a very surreal and enlightening endeavor. They can inspire us to make it through the darkness of the seasons, until the full sunlight- where we thrive. We become closer to eachother spiritually on these days where we take in gratitude & abundance, community strength & philosophy.
Sugar has always been customarily offered to the dead as a form of honor & memory. So- when we eat sugar it is a very happy sensation & actually comforts our spiritual unrest, at least temporarily. It has a very gorgeous smell, like a flower & fruit combined together. So, plainly & simply the sugar cookie has always been the number one choice on the holidays!
My favorite gothic holiday shapes; are stars, moons, animals, eggs, candles, trees, flowers, presents, & the basic round cookie form as well. The best cookies are made fresh & warm, & eaten with an ice cold drink like milk. Some people leave there milk out for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, because sugar has been known to satisfy many mythological beings appetites!
In Germany, the cookies are made with almonds & cinnamon. In star or round shapes too. A frosting is used, usually pure white or a deep red fruit tone. The cookies have toppings as the natural shapes usually of the nuts & candies. The same desserts as well, like breads & cakes, especially with dates, walnuts, maybe figs, honey, hazelnut, cloves, vanilla or nutmeg.
Vanillekipferl (German Vanilla Crescent Cookies) are shaped in crescent moons and resemble crescent bread too! You will find them decorated with a powdered sugar or a soft glaze, especially in white colors & tones. They are very popular cookies in Germany. They are especially good during gothic holidays, such as these ones.

Norwegian/Scandinavian history
In Norway, it's popular to celebrate Christmas in a similar fashion, as we do in the United states. There are the same type of decorations in most households, consisting of Christmas trees & presents. It's much like our designs, where we have fireplaces wrapped in garlands & floral arrangements, most like the reflection of the current weather.
The season is meant to be rich in folklore & tradition. Fire is a center focal point, with stove cooked dinners, crackling lit heaters & glittering snowy trees alit with candlesticks or bows, light & star flames. People talk about mythical creatures, especially the nisse, which is similar to the appearance of an elf or garden gnome. This being stems from Norwegian fairy tale.
The word itself is a pan-Scandinavian term. There are several examples in Scandinavian folklore, especially around the 19th century, when it gained in popularity as the representation of a force of the winter & solstice. Because, traditionally, holidays stemmed from a cosmic cycle of celestial truth & wisdom.
Scotland History
A history of Christmas in Scotland
On Christmas day people in Scotland usually eat potatoes, soups, chicken with barley or rice. Alcohol will be served as well, if desired or egg & cheese sauce. Some appetizers or made with a lot of bread & oils to absorb the drinking. The vegetables are green like leeks, maybe some onions or other salty seasonings. The leeks can be used in soups, sauces, pastas & even pies.
A typical dessert in Scotland on Christmas day
A Scottish pudding called Cranachan. Cranachan is similar to fruit parfait, with oats and yogurts, creams & sometimes even a shot of whiskey.(Apparently this is what makes it Scottish.) It should have whipped cream topping & something dazzling like raspberries in the summer and more of the foods from the season for the winter time.
Of course, cakes & shortbread cookies are popular any time of the year and can be made in a variety of flavors. This can be butter, cinnamon, lemon & chocolate too.
Raisins are a very important addition to Christmas puddings, breads & cookies as with cinnamon & nutmeg. If you still need more flavor you can add brown sugar, nuts or even dark spices to solidify the taste into the holiday itself. This is meant to represent the birth of the seeds that were planted, both spiritually & physically in life. Again, it's a subconcious process from which we reflect on everything we had done with our hands & hearts that year & bring it forward. To eat something sweet, is to bless your life progress with goodness.

A very long time ago there was less cities in the world & more magical creatures. People told lots of fantasy tales on the night before the special day. This was in hopes to summon mystical power & energy, to ward away any upcoming evil in the current life & afterlife. Some Christmas creatures that are popular this time of the year are elves, angels, demons, ghosts,
& the yeti lives in the actual snow itself.
Formally, we eat the same foods around thanksgiving & Christmas that the natives did. This is cranberries, corn, stuffing's, birds, potatoes, wild meat & other hot vegetables, which are in season.
Native American celebrations were typical in America, and were entwined with the cultures that reside here today! So, there is actually quite a variety of foods to eat that are considered sacred on these days, especially Thanksgiving & Christmas.

fables
History is very important and honored as a talk of the table. Some people will share their religious stories, family tales or whichever sacred things come to mind to share. With a special focus on being grateful for life, in order to manifest more. That's why it's also important to eat well on these dates.
It doesn't matter which gods you worship, we come together to worship them.

It's a formulation of love & time which binds us to eachother for eternity.
