Comments: This starts off as so many Conan stories do and rightly so with him in a bar and fighting.
Now day becomes night and an unnatural atmosphere desends on all present. Conan and some mercenaries stand ready yet the Pict woman who rides in warns them to flee. An army of the cursed charges head on at them. The horde is unstopping and the blood and gore is everywhere. This battle is one of dying and only two humans survive.
The art is done in a traditional style that is frequently used with Conan. He is drawn as a grim warrior and the land is foreboding with the atmosphere ominous. These Picts in this horde are no longer human but something else. The Pict woman Brissa is drawn as a beauty yet with no mistake that she is a hardened warrior.
The army of the cursed is still on the move and they have invaded Cimmeria. Can Conan and Bressa stop this unstoppable horde? What will Conan do next?
This is Conan as he was meant to be. Yes he is rough and tough, a barbarian to be sure yet he is a gentleman and has a big heart he helps others. Yet you will have no problem knowing this man is not to be trifled with. Cross him and you will end up dead yet work with him and he would give his life for you a thousand times over if he could. He is a man of honor.

Comments: Conan and Brissa see the unholy army slaying all in their path. The art is dark as are the characters and setting. Conan and Brissa follow this undead army as they march. The atmosphere is one of quiet dread.
Conan and Brissa do get to know each other better as they follow the dreadful hoard. Brissa and Conan have a nice discussion. We learn a little about each. They are similar yet different to.
The lands of Cimmeria are cold and bleak. They offer a great place for men and women to become hard edged and grow strong.
Conan in battle is a force to be reconed with. He moves with a wild purpose and all before him fall. He is wary of the supernatural yet he does not turn away from it. Conan is one of the fiercess fighters you are ever likely to see.
This issue has it all, a warrior, a woman of beauty and skill, a threat that endangers anyone that comes near it. Also a mystery as to who is behind this army of destruction. Plus how can it be stopped?

Comments: Conan and Brissa are exploring inside the Fortress of black stone and the setting is creepy. Within this Fortress they find enemies those leading the undead. Conan does strike hard and fast. Conan finds a few of his kin still alive and they now have a mission.
Conan witness's an ancient ceremony and then his name is mentioned Thulsa Doom! Conan and his country men do find the enemy and they want vengeance. Conan swings and cleaves with his sword. Both snake men and undead men feel its wrath.
The art is dark and forebidding. Not only are the battle hardened warriors well illustrated, the art also brings across the horror of what they face.
This comic delivers Conan just how you want him. He is a firece barbarian warrior. He is shown with a strong sense of kinship to his country men. Brissa is a beauty and deadly fighter a barbarian and warrior as well. Her and Conan do match up well.
Dark magic, savage fighting, a warrior of strong muscles and convictions, a beautiful companion and a cause to fight for. All this makes this comic one you will want to pick up.

Comments: Conan and a priest are being pulled down below the water by a nightmarish creature. The tentacles pull Conan down into the dark depths. There something weird happens and Conan meets Brule a pictish Chieftain. The illustrations here are gorgeous. The primeval of the pict stands out. Brule recounts a tale of evil. Him and his men fight an inhuman host and the artwork has a savage beauty to it. Conan's meeting with Brule does invigorate him to fight more and to free himself. Conan does what lesser men could not. He never gives up fighting this underwater nightmare even faced with certain death.
Conan and his fellow Cimmerian Hygal fight well and then flee. Many die here yet a few survive. They went through hell. The story here is a simple one Conan battlesa monster and then zombies which are done in such a way as to make them seem even more evil. It takes a lot of destruction and death to handle this horror upon the land.
The comic works as both an adventure one and a horror one. Conan does easily fit into both catagories and when they are combined such as here things are at their best.

Comments: This issue has Conan at sea with Belit on her ship. Only briefly though. The part of this romance at sea could have been an entire issue or more.
Chaundra a thief is using Conan to help her steal something. Yes Conan is a thief to and he is using the money to drawn his sorrows with ale. This Conan here is sulking and only wants to stay drunk.
Conan and tthree other thieves accept a job which they know will be incredibly hard. To steal Tarim's Touch. The Tower of Bel is a fortress and impenetrable yet that is where Conan and the thieves are going. For enough money even Conan will try anything. They do come up with a way inside one that is risky and morbid. Conan in battle strikes fast and ferious. He is one of the best gorilla fighters in a melee you could have.
Conan does reach his gaol only to find it is not what he expected and he does not any part of the hellish nightmare that it is about to unleash. The last page only hints at what is to come and you will not want to miss a panel of this next issue. The horror has been unleashed again and the city will tremble in fright.
