I have been reading several Stone Arch Books. These are classic stories that I felt very rewarding to read. I read Black Beauty. This story was at core about animal abuse of horse during 1800’s. It also showed way that horse found way back to loving family.
I also read Treasure Island. Young Jim Hawkins discovers an old treasure map and sets out on a harrowing adventure voyage to a faraway island. The violent sea is the first of many obstacles, as Jim learns there are dangerous men seeking the same treasure.
I also read King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The book summery said: In a world of wizards, giants and dragons. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table are the only defense against the forces of evil that threaten the Knights of Camelot.
There are also other books published such as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer “, “Robin Hood”. Most these books were published around 2007.
I also liked how books gave section talking about author who first wrote each individual book. There is also section which talks about new authors retelling story for Stone Arch Books. The illustrator is also talked about who drew each graphic novel. There is a Glossary section which helps clear up any confusing questions regarding words in script. An example is in “Treasure Island” word beach (BEECH) – to land a ship on shore. The book also gives brief text on back ground of each actual book like Background of “Black Beauty”.
The book also gives some added bonus Discussion Questions and Writing Prompts for example in “Treasure Island”. Describe your favorite character in Treasure Island. Why do you like this character? Would you like to sail on a ship with this person?
The Stone arch graphic novel collection is more for young adults to teenager. The books contents give reflection of novel in very short amount of pages. It might even give reader feel to read original novels. I got my copies through library. The books are hard cover. The reading level is medium.
The books can also be bought through Stone Arch Books website.
