This is a classic story told in graphic format from book that was published in 1847. Charlotte B. came from publishing family. Her sister Anne published Agnes Grey, and her sister Emily published Withering Heights. Charlotte's mother died when Charlotte was only five years old. Four years later her sisters Maria and Elizabeth, died of tuberculosis. The story of Jane Eyre talked about how child went to live with relatives that did not care for her. Jane also lived in time before telephones. Communication was difficult. Jane did have love of reading books. It is story how child grew up and learned how to manage life. How she gained independence under very difficult situations. It is also a story involving how Jane was almost forced into unwanted marriage. She found love with another person who was long time friend. The book also talked about insane woman. The woman caused a horrible fire . The fire was key to Jane getting married to friend. There was romance and suspense in Jane Eyre. I liked how book started with 2 character pages. The characters were depicted like in photos representing what they would look like in story. Jane Eyre, Mr. Edward Rochester (owner of Thornfield Hall), Mr. Jim Reed Jane's uncle. Were just some of many characters in Jayne Eyre. There is also a glossary and Charlotte information pages to conclude book. Charlotte B. lived from 1816 - 1855. Many of the things in Jane Eyre came from her own life. I think Jane Eyre is classic book revealing situations about time period when deadly sicknesses were more common. Families were disrupted by TB and other things like scarlet fever and polio. Survivors had to live with relatives. This was not always positive. The relatives sometimes were uncaring to survivor. These sort of topics are talked about in Jane Eyre. I feel teen to adult reading range. The art seemed to fit turmoil and sadness of Victorian time period story is told.
I noticed Lucent Books also has other graphic novels. Here are a few examples: Henry V, Frankenstein, Great Expectations and Macbeth. The story of Jane Eyre was told in chapter format. I found various costs on internet. I just got my copy through library.
